Old thread that I found with a search, but here's my $0.02 worth:

of the 20+/- vintage sets I've tried (so far) easily my favorites are my 1957 Hogan Precisions.

Best of the rest would include early '50's MacGregor M75/M85 (pre-colokrom), 1962-63 Wilson Turfriders, 1963 Haig Contour Sole.

Honorable Mention: 1967 Hogan PC7's, 1978 Hogan Medallions, 1964 Hogan PTIII, 1959 MacGregor CF4000, 1956 Wilson Dyna-Powered

I think the shaft has a lot to do with the overall feel and performance of the clubs.

My go to favorite is '57 Wilson Staff Dynapowered with TT Rockets. I also like the Hogan Precisions but mine are a little light because of the x200 shafts.
