Tiger Woods Tour Status 2016

Tiger Woods Tour Status 2016

175th on the money list.
In the old days that meant losing your card regardless of who you are or were.

I'm not up on the latest exemptions and changes the tour runs by these days..

Does Tiger have a legitimate exemption for next year? Only sponsor exemptions?

He does for winning the player's championship in 2013.

Funny you bring up the old timers for losing cards more easily because Trevino and nicklaus are on the list for 2015-2016
Looks like they stopped giving lifetime exemptions for US open or PGA championships in 1970...

The real sham is that Kaymer lost his card for next year when he's won a US open and player's recently but that's another story.

The Players Championship... ok, that used to be a 10 year exemption. It looks like other than that, Tiger would be out technically. Of course he would be in every week for his marketability etc. Interesting to think he's pretty close to having to play Web.com events if he were treated like everyone else.

Seems to be quite a few guys who have won majors in the last 10 years who are outside the exempt list.

I think he's good for life under #18 with 20 wins and 15 years on tour

Correct. If you win 20 times you get full exemption for life. Phil, Tiger, and Davis Love are the only active players it applies to right now. Some majors give lifetime invites to previous winners, and the US Open gives ten years so hes good there through 2018.

Yeah good call guys, he does have the 20 win lifetime exemption even when the Player's Championship win has expired.

The link I posted above says a 5 year exemption for US Open wins, maybe it used to be 10?

Interesting that Tiger is not exempt for WGC events though until his world ranking improves, I remember he missed at least one of those last year because he was ranked too high.
