I achieved a major goal yesterday - I broke 80 for the first time with a 9 over par 79. Not a hard course or anything and definitely some luck involved as two tee shots were destined for OB but found safe landing areas.

Lately have been working on compression of the left arm into my left side through impact and transition work falling into my left side as a trigger to fire the hit. Stu has been helping me with this concept of compression and it has really helped me get more control over the ball, especially in the short game.

Here is my swing to date. This is with an 8-iron.

Congrats Les! You'll have many sub 80 rounds to come, I'm sure.

Cool Les, first one is cool for sure. Now that you are elite is that a high priced range you found....doesn't look like your usual digs. RR

Congrats Les. I hope to join the sub-80 club one day myself.

My best of 83 (last year) was looking good for a sub-80 until I blew up on the 16th and 18th holes. The struggle continues...

Just down the road - Griffith Park. My usual range was closed for the day.

Played 9 yesterday. Shot 39 with some improved putting.

There was one par 3 playing 205 uphill, into a stiff breeze. I hit a 2 iron as pure as I'm able and it was a thing of beauty. Wind didn't move it a foot. The sound of the strike is what I remember best. Just a 3 on the card, but the most satisfying hole.

It's amazing how just one perfect strike can make the day and keep us coming back. There is a feeling in the core of the body that is hard to describe.
